ABOUT THE 2022 WORLD CUP
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to be the 22nd FIFA International Football Competition, in which the national teams of FIFA members will take part. The World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022. It will be the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world and will be the second World Cup to be held entirely in Asia since 2002, when the tournament was held in South Korea and Japan. Here I will tell you where you can watch the World Cup for free online.
The tournament will be the last to feature 32 teams, with an increase to the 48 teams scheduled for the 2026 tournament, when the World Cup will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The current champions of the World Cup are France. Due to the strong summer heat in Qatar, this World Cup will be held at an unusual time from late November to mid-December. This makes it the first tournament not to take place in May, June or July and must be played in a shortened period of about 28 days. It will be very strange, but also somewhat interesting to watch the World Cup in the winter months.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL WATCH THE WORLD CUP 2022
In 2010, the World Cup was watched by about 620 million spectators, and in 2014 their number increased to nearly 700 million. In 2018, only 516 million wanted to watch the World Cup, which is a big drop from the previous edition of the tournament. Most experts attribute this decline to the fact that the United States did not participate in the tournament and the fact that the matches were broadcast at an inconvenient time for a large number of viewers because of Russia’s time zone.
With the advancement of technology, the boom of streaming platforms and access to the Internet, the expectations for the World Cup 2022 are that it will be watched by a record number of viewers. As the time difference between Doha and Central Europe is not very large, and most of the matches will be played late at night due to the high temperatures in Qatar, the matches will be at a very good time for all Europeans and Americans. Most spectators in North and South America will be able to watch the 2022 FIFA World Cup in the morning or at noon. The only “victims” are the countries in East Asia, which will be able to watch the matches in the late evening and after midnight.

OPTION 2 - Televisions broadcasting the 2022 World Cup online.
Most televisions broadcast their content live online. Thus, any device that can connect to the Internet (TV, phone, tablet, laptop, etc.) can access the broadcasts of the respective television.
NOTE: Keep in mind that many of these televisions have a restriction on which territory they can broadcast their content. For example, the Bulgarian National Television can be watched completely free of charge online, but only on the territory of Bulgaria. Therefore, if you are outside Bulgaria and want to watch the World Cup for free online on BNT, you will get an error that will inform you exactly that the broadcast is limited to the territory. How do televisions understand where you are at the moment? How to change our digital location? I will answer these questions in this section
If you are interested in how to watch iptv free tv online with android tv boxing over the internet you can read my article here .
Below you will find a short list of state televisions that broadcast their content online and have no territorial restrictions. All of these TVs have purchased rights and you will be able to watch the 2022 World Cup for free online.
How do television companies get our location?
This is usually done through our public IP, which is visible to everyone on the Internet. Less often, this is done through your browser language or cookies. Each Internet connection or any device that is connected to the Internet has its own IP address, which is distributed by your ISP or the device to which you are connected. Accordingly, this ISP must publicly inform that the given IP address is issued in the territory of the respective country. So when you connect to a TV site to watch the 2022 World Cup, they read the IP address from which that link comes and understand exactly where you are.
Fortunately, there are already many options for how to solve this problem and mask an IP in order to change your digital location and have access to territorially limited televisions. The options below describe step by step exactly how this works.
OPTION 3 - Change your location via VPN to watch TV for free
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network or so-called personal virtual network. Providers of VPN services are gaining more and more popularity, precisely due to the fact that many of the companies offering Internet services (banks, television, etc.) are in one way or another limited by location. The VPN gives you exactly this opportunity to change your digital location and watch the World Cup for free online on TV, which is broadcast only in a certain area. An added bonus is that in most cases, connections to VPN servers are secure and encrypted. This way you have another level of protection in the internet space. The other important advantage of VPN is that the service is multi-platform. This means that you can quickly and easily install a VPN on a computer, phone, tablet or TV and use the service without wasting time in settings.
To use a VPN service, providers usually offer either special software to install on your device or a plug-in to add to your browser. Then you simply choose a server in the country where you want to use a certain service – for example, a TV that broadcasts the 2022 World Cup for free online. Then your IP changes and it’s like using the Internet in the country you choose. All your internet traffic passes through this country or more precisely the server located there.
VPN services are free and paid. There are already providers that offer VPN completely free. Of course, the disadvantage of them is that there is a limit in traffic or speed. To have a quality and reliable VPN, it is better to buy a package from popular providers of such services. This way you will not have a speed limit and you will be able to watch TV channels that broadcast the 2022 World Cup.
If you are abroad and want to watch the 2022 World Cup online on BNT (Bulgarian National Television), below I will list some free VPN providers that have servers in Bulgaria.
Free VPN
One of the best and free VPN providers. It has servers in almost every country in the world and offers unlimited traffic. The speed it maintains in most cases is good and is enough to watch the 2022 World Cup for free online. On top of that, Urban VPN is multi-platform and can be installed on any device or browser.
This is another free VPN with unlimited bandwidth. The only downside is that it can only be installed on Android and iOS devices.
Another free VPN service provider. There is a server located in Sofia and nearly 100 other locations. The only downside is that there is a monthly limit of 10GB of traffic.
Paid VPN
Has over 750 servers in 39 countries, including Bulgaria. It is multiplatform, super fast and reliable and offers the service at a price of 1.99 USD per month.
Has an incredible 8000 supers in over 50 countries, including Bulgaria. It’s multi-platform again, which means you can install it on any device and watch the 2022 FIFA World Cup for free online. Available at $5.99 per month.
One of the most popular VPN providers. It offers a super fast and reliable VPN with servers in over 180 countries (including Bulgaria) at a price of 8.32 USD per month. It can be installed on any device you can think of.
Again one of the giants in offering VPN services. It has over 3200 servers in 65 countries, one of which is Bulgaria. All this is offered at an incredible price of 2.20 USD per month. It can be said that you can watch the World Cup for free online. After all, $ 2 a month is literally nothing.
Another excellent VPN provider with 5306 servers in 60 countries, including Bulgaria. Its price is 3.49 USD per month. Available for Android, Windows, macOS, iOS, Linux, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Android TV and other platforms.
Once you have selected a VPN provider, simply install it on the desired device and select a server located in the country from which the TV is broadcast. So your internet traffic passes entirely through this country and the TV site thinks that you are in this country.
Here are some TV stations that will broadcast live the matches of the 2022 World Cup for free online. These TVs are territorially limited and you need to use a VPN or Proxy server to watch them.
OPTION 4 - IPTV player for IPTV and M3U playlist
There is a lot of controversy about the legality of IPTV television, but the fact is that there are countless options for watching it on the Internet. It can be said that most TV and Internet providers already offer IPTV, just do not present it under that name. The main difference is that their channels are coded and their device is needed to decode and watch them. With the other type of provider, all content goes over the Internet and does not need to be decoded. As there are countless paid and free options to watch IPTV TV. As paid options, they can easily replace your TV provider, because at prices from $ 0.99 per month they offer from 2,000 to 20,000 channels and you will certainly be able to watch the 2022 World Cup on some of them.
The first thing you need is an IPTV player. Below I list the most popular and easy to use, but there are countless other options that you can download for free.
I personally use this one because it is very intuitive in design and can be installed both on the Android TV platform and on a regular Android device. You can add countless M3U playlists and EPG sources. All settings are unlocked.
The next thing you need to watch the 2022 World Cup for free online is the M3U playlist, which loads into the appropriate IPTV player you have installed. Below I will list a few free options and a few paid to find M3U playlists, with paid options starting at $ 0.99 per month, which is practically nothing. But on the other hand, you get much better quality, no cuts, a lot more channels and constant updating of the playlist.

New M3U playlists for IPTV TV are constantly being added on these channels completely free of charge. From there you will be able to find working playlists with IPTV channels. Some bands like Sport IPTV specialize in M3U playlists with sports channels.

These M3U playlists offer a large number of channels and most importantly are constantly updated, ie. in 90% of cases the channels work without problems.
Paid providers of IPTV where to watch the FIFA World Cup 2022.
All IPTV providers below have been tested by me and work smoothly. All offer a free trial of 1 or 2 days to dine in their capacity. Also, all offer several servers located in different countries and you have the opportunity to test the speed of each server, and then choose the most suitable for you (with the highest speed for seamless viewing of the World Cup 2022). Registering for everyone is very easy and getting an M3U playlist takes minutes. All also offer an EPG, which comes from the Electronic program guide. In short, this is the program of each TV channel, which is also shown on the list of channels. Free M3U playlists do not offer such a thing and it is very difficult to find out what exactly is given on the respective TV.
Provider | Price | Channels count | Trial Period | Archive | Devices |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sharavoz | $3 per month | over 1800 channels | 1 day | 6 days | 1 device |
IPTV Online | $0.99 per month | over 1000 channels | 1 day | 1 day | 2 devices |
Cbilling | $3 per month | over 840 channels | 1 day | 7 days | 1 device |
There are other providers such as bobres that offer an incredible 20,000 channels and a total of over 121,000 options for watching interactive TV. The price starts at 5 euros per month, depending on how long you will be subscribing to and on how many devices you will be using the IPTV TV.
OPTION 5 - Programs and applications for smart phones and smart TVs.
There is already a wide variety of applications for smart TVs and phones based on Android or iOS, which contain a huge number of TV channels that can be streamed directly to your device. In most cases, there are hundreds and even 1000+ channels – surely one of them will allow you to watch the 2022 World Cup for free directly from your phone or smart TV.
OPTION 6 - Through a Proxy server that masks and changes your location
Proxy servers were very popular about 10 years ago, before they embarked on VPN services. They allow your Internet connection to pass through a specific server located in the country where the TV is broadcast and thus unlock its content. A small disadvantage of Proxy servers is that they are more difficult to use on mobile devices and smart TVs. That is why they have lost their popularity in recent years. However, they are still an effective way to change your digital location and watch the World Cup for free online.
How do I set up a Proxy server in your browser?
In my example, I will use Mozilla Firefox, but the methodology can be used for any modern browser.
Proxy server settings directly in the browser
To access Mozilla Firefox proxy settings, click the Firefox menu and go to Options.
Click the “Advanced” icon on the left side of the preferences window, click the “Network” tab at the top of the window, and then click the “Settings” button under Connection.
Here you can choose from four different proxy options. By default, Firefox is set to “Use system proxy settings”.
No proxy: Firefox will not use a proxy server, even if one is configured in the system-wide proxy settings.
Auto-detect proxy settings for this network: Firefox will use the automatic web proxy discovery protocol, also known as WPAD, to find the right proxy for your network. This feature is sometimes used only in business and educational networks to automatically provide the necessary proxy settings to all computers on the network.
Use system proxy settings: Firefox follows whatever proxy settings you have configured in your system settings. If you do not have a system-wide proxy configured, Firefox will not use a proxy.
Manual proxy configuration: Firefox allows you to manually set custom proxy settings that will only be used for Firefox itself.
If you select “Manual proxy configuration”, you will need to enter your proxy settings in the fields here. Your proxy service provider – or employer, if provided by your employer – will be able to provide the necessary settings.
Enter the proxy server address you want to use for normal, unencrypted HTTP browsing connections in the HTTP Proxy field. You will also need to enter the port that the proxy server uses in the Port field.
You will usually want to click on the “Use a proxy server for all protocols” option. Firefox will also use your HTTP proxy server for SSL-encrypted HTTPS and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) connections.
Uncheck this box if you want to enter separate proxy servers for HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP connections. This is not common.
Using a addon for Proxy servers
I personally use the FoxyProxy plugin, which is available for Mozilla Firefox and Chrome. In my opinion, this is the most convenient option, as it allows you to save countless Proxy servers and very easily change and use them with just 1 click. While in the browser settings you should always enter the menu and enter them manually.
Step 1 – Install the plugin by clicking the “Add to Firefox” button
STEP 2 – Confirm the installation by clicking on the “Add” button
STEP 3 – Note that you want this plugin to be activated for Incognito windows (this is recommended so you can watch the World Cup online for free) and press the “Okay” button
STEP 4 – The FoxyProxy plugin icon will appear at the top right.
Or if it is not visible there you can find it by going to the Options -> Addons and Themes menu or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + A. This will open the list of installed plugins and you will be able to set up FoxyProxy.
STEP 5 – Click on the “Options” button – this will open a new window with all the settings of the plugin. Then you have to click the “Add” button.
STEP 6 – You will see a new window in which you can add a Proxy server.
- In the field “Title or Description (optional)” you can enter the name of the server with which you will recognize it
- In the “Color” field you can select a color to distinguish the server again
- Leave the settings in the “Pattern Shortcuts” section as default
In the “Proxy Type” field you must select the type of Proxy server. - In the “Proxy IP address or DNS name” field, enter the IP address of the server or a non-DNS name.
If the server has a specific connection port, you must enter it in the “Port” field. - If necessary, enter your username and password in the “Username (optional)” and “Password (optional)” fields.
After entering all the data, click the “Save” button.
STEP 7 – The corresponding Proxy server will appear in your list in the FoxyProxy plugin.
STEP 8 – To start using the Proxy server you need to select it from the drop-down menu above the list or from the icon at the top right.
ATTENTION: Once you have selected the given Proxy server, all your internet traffic through the browser will pass through this server. It is recommended to use it only to watch the 2022 World Cup for free online. Once you're done watching, it's a good idea to turn off the Proxy server by clicking the "Turn off (use Firefox Settings)" option. This way, your internet traffic will go through your ISP's main route again.
Where can I find a free proxy server?
There are hundreds of sites that offer lists of Proxy servers. In most cases, they are checked to see if they are active, what speed they maintain, and how long it takes the server to respond. You can choose the exact location of the respective Proxy server in order to avoid the territorial restriction of the given TV. For example, if the TV station broadcasting the 2022 FIFA World Cup is located in Turkey, you will have to choose a counter who is also located in Turkey.
Below you will find 2 sites with lists of Proxy servers, which are checked for activity quite often and have the option to select a country:
