4. Vysehrad Castle
One of the most underrated sights in Prague is Visegrad. This castle, which was once a royal residence, is situated on a hilltop with stunning views of the city and the Vltava River. Visegrad is perfect for those who love history, as it dates back to the 10th century. As you walk through the castle walls, you can feel the centuries of stories within the stone. Don’t forget to visit the 14th-century Gothic church and the 15th-century chapel within the castle walls. With its well-manicured gardens and panoramic views, Visegrad is an ideal location for a picnic or a romantic evening stroll. The best time to visit is during the autumn season when the trees turn a beautiful golden color, making the experience even more magical. 5. Prague Zoo
Prague Zoo is a great place to visit, especially if you’re traveling with family. Located on the banks of the Vltava River, this zoo has over 600 species of animals, including some rare and endangered ones. You can see tigers, bears, giraffes, elephants, and even a baby gorilla!
One of the unique things about this zoo is its focus on conservation and animal welfare. It’s also home to a large botanical garden with a wide variety of plants and flowers.
The Prague Zoo is open every day of the year and offers a range of activities, including guided tours, animal feedings, and a children’s petting zoo. The zoo also has a range of restaurants and cafes where you can grab a bite to eat.
You can easily spend the whole day there and still not be able to see all the animals and exhibits. It is a vast space, which is why there is a Chairlift taking people from the lower parts of the Zoo to the hill. If you travel with children the Prague Zoo is a must-visit landmark for a weekend gateway.
Bonus - Letna Park for an amazing view of Prague's cityscape and Vltava bridges.
If you wander where people get those amazing shots with breathtaking views of the whole Vltava River and its bridges, this is Letna Park. You can get there by tram number 22 and this is the preferred way, as the park is located on a hill, hence the high vantage point and amazing view. The park is located alongside the river and offers many recreational facilities like a skate park, mini football, and many more. The most iconic sight there is the Metronome which is 23 meters tall. It is a beautiful place to walk around during your weekend gateway and admire Prague City from above. There are a couple of spots where the whole cityscape is visible and you can get pretty good shots, especially during sunset.
