1. Explore Prague Castle

When spending a weekend in Prague, one of the must-visit landmarks is Prague Castle. Located in the heart of the city, it’s impossible to miss this imposing structure. The castle is not just a single building, but rather a complex of multiple palaces, gardens, and churches that were built over several centuries.
One of the main sights in Prague Castle is St. Vitus Cathedral, which took over 500 years to complete and boasts stunning Gothic architecture. Visitors can also explore the Golden Lane, a charming street of colorful houses that used to be the homes of castle guards and craftsmen.
In addition to the stunning architecture, the castle offers sweeping views of the city from various viewpoints. Make sure to visit the castle during the Changing of the Guard ceremony to witness a tradition that dates back to the early 1900s.
Whether you’re interested in history, or architecture, or simply want to take in the breathtaking views of Prague, exploring Prague Castle is an activity that shouldn’t be missed during your weekend in Prague.

2. Take a walk down the Charles Bridge

If you’re spending a Weekend in Prague, taking a stroll down the Charles Bridge is a must-do activity. This iconic bridge is one of the most famous landmarks in Prague and offers some of the best sights in the city.
The Charles Bridge is a 14th-century stone bridge that crosses the Vltava River. It’s lined with statues of religious figures and offers beautiful views of the river and the city. You can find musicians, artists and street vendors here throughout the day, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere.
The bridge is particularly beautiful during sunrise or sunset when the light hits the statues and the river, creating a picturesque scene that will leave you in awe. Don’t forget to take a moment to admire the Gothic towers that stand at both ends of the bridge – they’re equally impressive in the daylight or at night when they are illuminated.
A walk down the Charles Bridge is also a great opportunity to learn about the history of Prague and the bridge itself. The bridge was built by King Charles IV and has played an important role in the city’s history.
So, take some time to explore this incredible landmark during your weekend getaway in Prague. From there you can easily reach the city center of Prague and visit the Old Town Square where some of the best hotels in Prague are located.

5. Prague Zoo

Prague Zoo is a great place to visit, especially if you’re traveling with family. Located on the banks of the Vltava River, this zoo has over 600 species of animals, including some rare and endangered ones. You can see tigers, bears, giraffes, elephants, and even a baby gorilla!
One of the unique things about this zoo is its focus on conservation and animal welfare. It’s also home to a large botanical garden with a wide variety of plants and flowers.
The Prague Zoo is open every day of the year and offers a range of activities, including guided tours, animal feedings, and a children’s petting zoo. The zoo also has a range of restaurants and cafes where you can grab a bite to eat.
You can easily spend the whole day there and still not be able to see all the animals and exhibits. It is a vast space, which is why there is a Chairlift taking people from the lower parts of the Zoo to the hill. If you travel with children the Prague Zoo is a must-visit landmark for a weekend gateway.

Bonus - Letna Park for an amazing view of Prague's cityscape and Vltava bridges.

If you wander where people get those amazing shots with breathtaking views of the whole Vltava River and its bridges, this is Letna Park. You can get there by tram number 22 and this is the preferred way, as the park is located on a hill, hence the high vantage point and amazing view. The park is located alongside the river and offers many recreational facilities like a skate park, mini football, and many more. The most iconic sight there is the Metronome which is 23 meters tall. It is a beautiful place to walk around during your weekend gateway and admire Prague City from above. There are a couple of spots where the whole cityscape is visible and you can get pretty good shots, especially during sunset.
